University Family Fellowship
University Family Fellowship was founded in 1983 by Pastor Robert Owens, who held his first services in his own back yard near the University of Nevada, Reno. Today, University Family Fellowship is located at 1125 Stanford Way in Sparks. Dan Sipma is the current senior Pastor who values the humble beginnings of this Church and continues the vision of serving the community in love and truth.
We pray for wounded hearts to be healed. We pray for those who need forgiveness to be forgiven. We pray if you need to forgive others but don’t know how, you will come and surrender that burden to Our Heavenly Father. We invite you to come as you are.
We pray that as you desire to draw nearer to God, you can find true peace in knowing you are a child of the One True King – you are made for Glory, you matter and Jesus truly does love YOU!
Please join us each Sunday Morning at 9:30 am on the corner of “I” Street and Stanford Way. We look forward to meeting you.
Pastor Dan & Karen Sipma
We were invited to an Easter Service in April 1989 and have called University Family Fellowship home since that day. As we walked into the service being held at the Pioneer Theater in downtown Reno, we heard the words to “Our God is an Awesome God”, we witnessed Church members lifting their hands and their voices in praise and worship, we heard the Pastor sharing words from the Bible that just radiated truth and we knew we were home.
We taught Sunday School for a many years. One day as Dan was teaching Sunday School and I was sitting in service with our Son Chris, we both received the same message from the Holy Spirit. When we got into the car to go home after Church that day, we seemed to say in unison “God told me we need to start a Junior High/High school program.” Our plan was to have a marriage ministry but God had a different plan that we would walk for the next ten years.
After many mission trips to Mexico, China, the Dream Center and serving as the youth leaders for 10 years, the calling on Dan’s life to become a Pastor was confirmed. Since answering the call, the trials have been many and yet each trial has served to refine us and grow us in ways that help us focus on what truly matters – sharing The Trinity and the message of Eternal Life to all.
We pray that as you are answering the call to drawer nearer to God (James 4:8 “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.”) you will take the next step and join us for family service on Sundays at 9:30 am. Our prayer is for you to embrace our Ohana (family) as your own.
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with Thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God,, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7
